Wednesday Weekly Wisdoms 089 – Forgiveness and Joy

This morning, wondering what I would write about today and listening to a podcast, the word JOY called out to me and immediately I received Journey Of You, how lovely is that? We are encouraged to look for joy from within us rather than from external sources in the first instance. As much as we will receive joy from the external, we are being asked to receive it through the energy of our unique and wonderful selves. When we can find joy within ourselves then we truly find the energy of what that joy can be. Can you feel joy within you right now that is yours, not something that comes from an external source? Take time to investigate this, possibly meditate on it and get to know joy that is yours alone.


Here is the Emotional Guidance Scale from Esther and Jerry Hicks book Ask and It Is Given:

The closer we are to joy, the more easily we attract what we want. When we are in a negative place we guide ourselves back to joy by taking one step at a time. Where do you find yourself on this scale today? We are human so it is understandable that we will never be in joy 24/7 and we are not to beat ourselves up for not being there 24/7! Enjoy the journey of the flow in experiencing and working with where we are at any moment up and down the scale; it is natural. I am reminded of a passage from Desiderata the early 1920s poem by American writer Max Ehrmann, ‘. . . be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.’ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desiderata


Forgiveness is not on that list but I feel it ‘lives’ within the points from number eight downwards. ‘Forgiveness is the intentional and voluntary process by which one who may initially feel "victimized," undergoes a change in feelings and attitude regarding a given offence, and overcomes negative emotions such as resentment and vengeance (however justified it might be).’ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forgiveness

We can use forgiveness to assist us in climbing the emotional scale. The wiki definition says it is ‘an intentional and voluntary process’. What this says to me is that it is personal to us. We cannot seek true forgiveness from outside of ourselves for that energy lies within us. We hold the power of our own individual being and therefore we can release any angst or horror we hold within us. We have just forgotten how amazing we all are and how to do this because of the millennia of subjugation the human race has experienced. We are still children of the Universe and when we ‘wake up’ to that realisation, it changes the way we are and the way we will all live in this future world.


Through forgiveness we experience the most glorious freedom to live a joyous life and know that we hold the key to that energy of living this life. No more sacrifice, instead we will engage in support and love of all beings. No one-upmanship and therefore, as discussed in last weeks WWW, no competition. How does that feel? Does that help to move us up the scale and closer to joy?
