Not to be an avenging angel but to know when you need to protect yourself against those who would have you do something their way, not your way!
We are all uniquely individual and no one has walked in your shoes; lived the life you have lived.
Yes, we can learn from others, but, when they are pushy or insistent that something should be done their way, without giving you any good reason other than e.g. ‘because I said so’ then you would be wise to follow your own direction – keep your own counsel, and say thanks, but no thanks.
You have freewill, it is your choice to be the sheep or the shepherd.
